Singapore Expats

i finally did it after mulling over it for more than a year. i'm sick and tired of working in an oppressive and abusive environment in singapore.

i'm gonna be doing a few things i've always wanted to do and live off my savings for the next 12 months.

if all of them don't work out, i'm going back home to try and re-enlist as a US army medical corps - as a 61H this time (hopefully), if they'll take me back.

my back up plan is to go home and work in a teaching hospital.

my back up back up plan is to go and study some more.

my back up back up back up plan is to live off my wife.

HURRAY! it's time to break out the 10AM beers.

Congrats, mate. I've been gainfully unemployed since August... heading back to the US... a 'reinvention' is on the table... corporate world requires a great deal of concentration and patience to make it work... even as a contractor.

Much respect, congratulations and good luck to you both! Reinvention sounds attractive, albeit more risky than the status quo; I'd like to do that too in a few years. Sincerely hope you guys will continue to post on the forum.

i'm gonna be starting a hedge fund, continue with my medical research (in areas _I_ like), write for my wife's magazine, stop shaving, scratch whenever i feel like it and listen to a lot of music.

eagle: things in the US can't stay down forever. things will work out just fine - keep at it. your pals here will be here to give you a reality check from time to time : )

Congrats! I plan on doing the same although I dont have a wife to depend on and have been here for much less time (around an year). Plan on being a pest and crash at my folks place and maybe tour North India for a month. My head would explode if I stayed at the same workplace any more.
