I purchased a bosch iron in the uk and whenver i try to use it in my apartment it trips the electrics . it worked perfectly well in my previous apartment so not sure what the issue is. i also have a bosch toaster purchased here and that used to trip the lectrics depending on what socket it was put into.

any ideas on what i can do save buying a new iron

Check the appliance's loading. It may be drawing more electricity than your breakers can take.

It's more likely to be an earth leakage problem. Some ELCB's are a little over sensitive and irons (particularly steam type) are prone to earth leakage because of the moisture. Buy a new one - they're not expensive.
