Singapore Expats

Hello again all,

Well our plans to move to Singapore are coming to fruition. We have got the school sorted out for the kids, they are attending CIS. Talk about jump through hoops to get them there. My university application has been accepted, so it is time to start the planning.

Anyways, I am researching condo's and I have come across a lot of "U/C TOP" dates. I am assuming this means Under Construction, but what does TOP mean and are those dates mentioned concrete or subject to change.

I am planning on visiting Singapore around May/June to organise a familiarisation trip and organise accommodation, so just wondering if I am wasting my time looking at condos that have a TOP date close to that.

TOP means Temporary Occupation Permit which is when a building meets the key regulatory requirements and allows the owner to collect the keys to their property. These dates are not set in stone as per any construction project, could be earlier or later.

Thank you for your reply. I am finding the hunt for accommodation quite exhausting. One place looks good for a second, then the next thing you know it is not the greatest... GAAAAHHHH...
Looking at D09, what is your opinion on that if I may ask.

09 is within probably the most expensive area to live in Singapore. Which CIS campus kids going to?

Jurong West, our budget for accomm is $8K

From district 09 to the Jurong West campus is quite a trek everyday.

I personally would have picked the East Coast campus and stayed on the East Coast and would save you a small fortune in rental

I would have really loved to be able to do that, unfortunately, the East campus does not go to senior high, so we have to go to the West. We are also looking at D04 around Reflections @ Kepple. At least this is closer to the shopping for the wife and better commute for the kids.
