Singapore Expats

Hi Guys,

I need some advise on which recruiting agencies I can go to that does face to face consulting rather tell you to go online on their job portal and fill up their form.

I am experienced in the IT side and work in Canada as a IT Consultant in the marketing automation and looking for something like that in Singapore as well as Web designing.

I know its hard to get an interview without any pass so I am trying to see if any recruiting firm can help me in that.

Any advice much appreciated!.

Basically all recruitment agencies in Singapore are useless - at best they match keywords on their client's job descriptions with CVs in their database.
There are only very few, small boutique headhunters specialized in high-value niches. A friend of mine started one and is quite successful. I don't think he does IT, but I will send you his contact by PM (don't want to advertise him here).

I know a few. In fact I know of most banking vacancies in my area in Singapore.

What finance are we talking about here. Accounting or investment/private banking (I work in banking)? Do you know market risk managment (delta/vega/gamma/theto/rho/vanna volga etc) and P&L and VAR and stress testing, pricing methods (Black Scholes, Monte Carlo, bi/trinomial pricing, Hull&White etc). How proficient are you at implementing/understanding risk management systems (Murex, Calypso, Endur, Fincad etc). Do you know any software languages? VBA, SQL, Java, C/C++ etc. What subjects do you have degree(s) in? This is pretty much a requirement in finance/banking. The market here is competitive and you need to have qualifications

Deviating from the post..I have been searching for HR forums/groups (specifically for SME's..since I am working as a HR for a SME) and get associated...would you be able to share some your views/details.

Reason for associating with these forums is to have enhanced visibility on the best practices/understanding the current challenges/knowledge sharing...etc. As a HR I feel its inevitable to be connected to such forums to keep yourself updated and on track!!!!

SMS, since you have so much experience in headhunting and HR in Singapore, would you know of any headhunters specialised in the lifesciences sector (biotech or pharma)? thanks in advance!

Seymour, to be honest, I don't. The closest I ever got to that sector would have been building the Glaxo-Smithkline pharma mfg plant out in Tuas. I specialized in the Oil & Gas/heavy Civils sector as I spent 2 decades working in that sector so when I decided to HH, I stuck to what I knew. That way I more or less knew "exactly" what my clients wanted. My closure rate was probably one of the best in Singapore back in the day (closure/submission).

Today, Google is probably your 2nd best option, with LinkedIn being the first choice.

I think offshoreoildude posted a link to recruiters experienced in life sciences. You will have to do a search in this website for that thread.
