Singapore Expats

I have my 4 year old down for TTS starting this August. I know it is an excellent school but the lack of Mandarin (well 30mins a week) is now really starting to bother me. As she is currently in a bi-lingual pre-school it seems such a shame to lose the language especially as young minds are like sponges. I know I could put her in an enrichment mandarin class after school but am not sure it would be the same as learning with her classmates and am also worried about extending her school hours. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks for your advice.

To be honest, if you are sending your kid to a British curriculum school, really, do you expect the amount of Mandarin you are getting at local Kinde? IMO enrichment is for pushy parents, you'd be better leaving them in a local school if you want them to speak Chinese, but, expect them to speak English like the locals....

I agree with nutnut's comments, but would also point out that there are more opportunities to study Mandarin at TTS as your child gets older. My daughter did just that (initially against her wishes, but she later agreed that it had been a good idea ).

i don't know whether the conversational course in mandarin and malay language runs by BCS International College would be sufficient.
