Hi mums, I'm moving to spore soon and look forward to being a sahm.but my son will be in kindi and I have got time to spare, so I'm thinking of earning a bit of pocket money for myself. I will be on dependent pass and as far as I know I can work with a letter of consent from mom.
So, here's the question.... What do U mums do, if any?

I think the answer is, they work accordingly to their education or at least previous job experience. I may be wrong but I don't expect you can get LOC that easily to start a new career.

I haven't really explore in the technicalities of LOC yet. Is it hard to get?

Work out what you want to do (what did you do pre-kids?). What do you want to do now? Apply, then ask for LOC. Plenty of advice on getting (or not getting) LOC from Googling the subject.

I hope to do a spot of freelance writing (don't we all) and had to set up my own company to do it. Would love to give advice about that but I had a LOT of help to do it and couldn't begin to explain. Google it!

Very recently a friend of mine applied for LOC for a person from a country and of nationality that does not rise any suspicions, with a really good degree backed up by a number of relevant certificates, 15y of experience in the field and working experience in SG (EP) also in the same area. This for a position closely matching the background and with a niche on the job market as there are not that many locals qualified. The list of documents requested by MOM to be sent within 2 weeks was so impressive that she looked for another option.
So maybe it is easy, or maybe not any longer and just follows the trends observed for the work passes and such.

Yes I've heard examples like that before, that it can be a very complicated process. I found it UBER hard to know what to do and how to do it but then I'm not a very calm person when it comes to following detail. Hence having total memory loss ever since. Think I've just packed it away until next time.

I have worked on LOC for a year or so.most people are not aware of LOC so you might have to inform the employer about such an easy option first. The form & application is very simple & can be done online on MOM website. That's my experience, not sure if things have changed in 3 yrs time.

Dear all, thanks for all your input. This is our 2nd relocation in 3yrs, and the thing I learnt from my 1st relocation is every tiny bit of info helps. I've been googling on LOC and looked at jobstreet. Noticed that there are some positions at enrichment centres who wouldn't mind hiring DP. I would explore into that further. Thanks again. Cheers!

There is lots of information about this topic on this forum. My wife just recently applied for a DPLOC & was approved. There are ways to do it & there are people who can help for a relatively low fee. The only issue is MoM is changing policies but am sure with people's practical experience on this forum you can navigate your way through this..

Meanwhile, there had been a new development. A former employer of mine has got a branch office in Singapore. I'm in talks with my exboss to see if she can fit me in there.
Does anyone know if I can get an EP independently? Rather than be on a LOC?
