Singapore Expats

You guys have been a good source of info and help from when i first came to Singapore in 2009, so I'm here again to ask for your advice. Without further ado, here are my stats. What do you think my chances are?

28, female, single
Race: Indonesian Chinese
Salary: 48,000+
Education: Bachelors of Science from a recognized university in the states
Years in Singapore: 3.5 years, and i honestly love it here!
Profession: Online Marketing and web development
I've had my EP renewed/ applied for new three times
Paid income tax pretty much every year since i've been here (2010 & 2011, will pay again for 2012 soon)

Also, does employer profile matter? I work for an MNC now but hired through a smaller agency. Should i wait until i get converted full-time to the MNC or just go ahead and apply now?

If i get rejected now, does it hurt my future chances?

You seem to have good cred for PR - just what Singapore is looking for. I would apply now. It is common for PR applications to be turned down first time in any case - so good to get it out of the way. You can reapply in 6 months time if your first is not successful. There is nothing to loose!

No. You can reapply in X number of years as indicated in the rejection letter.

But remember that ICA doesn't like spam applications. So unless you have improved profile in each of your successive applications, do not spam.

Not sure why you would say the application from AmerettoSour would be spam. That is rather an insult. From what she has said, she appears to be highly suitable for PR application.

spam = unwanted mail or messages

With how ICA is rumored to be very touchy about people who are too persistent, spam just may be one way to describe an application.

Before you jump, I must mention that your first post in this thread (and also the other thread) gives the false notion that it is OK to just shoot a PR application, whether an applicant has seriously considered his/her intention (and also the requirements) to be permanent resident here or not. And how it is OK to reapply after rejection in the manner you described. Of course I agree to be disagreed with in this discussion. However, I'm not going into the minute details about how ICA handles PR applications as this topic has been discussed ad nauseum already. You can use the search function in this forum to find the many threads we pointed out.

To digress, OP has quite a solid profile, so she could be able to stand a chance.

Anyway, some possibly interesting info - i went to lodge my application last week. they also wanted me to provide my parent's change of name from chinese name to indonesian name. I guess they want proof that I really am of chinese descent... indication that chinese is still flavor of the month?

Just makin' sure I suspect. But, yeah, still the flavour of the year I reckon.

Exactly 3 months today and still pending

Don't let it worry you. Recently we've had two cases here, both for 10 to 12 months. One rejected, one approved. The duration of the wait does not seem to have a bearing on whether an application is successful or not. Just keep your fingers crossed.

Just give it a shot! Recently I have a client who earns lesser than you and is 26 years old, indon chinese. She got approved! So chances are there.

Got my IPA approval in the mail today
it was dated December 19, so it took a little under 5 months...

Congratulations. I wonder why they took 5 months. I bet they just see photographs these days and the decision is made that instant.
