Pros n cons n salary of a sg taxi driver

I know to work as a taxi driver, one need to be at least 30 years of age.
But what are the pros n cons of being a taxi driver in Singapore?
What is the salary like?
How many hrs to work per day/per week in order to earn a decent amount?

Are you a citizen. Can only be a cab driver if you are citizen. And if you are citizen this is probably not the correct forum to be asking.

cons - long, irregular hours, sitting on your bum in the cold the entire time of work, endure creepy and funny passengers, might even encounter ghosts on lonely roads 
pros - earn money in your own time - more hours you put in more money you get, don't have to answer to rude bosses (or colleagues) from hell, eat / drink when you feel like it on the job (altho your passengers will complain), ....

can range from as low as SGD800 to as high as SGD7k. the latter is if you work 15 hours a day, 7 days a week

for the SGD800, you work the stipulated hours
google for smrt taxi or drive taxi in Singapore and you will get a lot more info

Assuming there are 2 of them sharing a cab it gives ~$S20 to be earned every single hour. Good luck.

- All taxi dirvers must be Singapore citizens, as mentioned above.
- All taxi drivers are self-employed and lease their taxi.
- Lease costs S$150/day, so if you earn less than that you are actually making a loss.
- Most taxi drivers do 12-hour shifts and share the taxi with another diriver (who does the other 12 hours) to maximise earnings.
- Your income after expenses will not be very high (forget about the S$7k mentioned above!)

A good driver with a couple of regular fares as well may make between 2500~3000/mo. Most only manage around 2K/mo but use the vehicle to ferry family members around as well.

My real estate agent is also a taxi driver. He does multitasking
I also came across another taxi driver, who is retired and just drives the taxi to kill his time. He is not bothered about the money, nor does he share his taxi with another person for the 12 hour-12 hour shift. He just drives as and when he likes.
I somehow feel driving a taxi should never be a full time, long term job for an educated healthy individual in his/her prime age, unless driving is your passion. I am surprised, Singaporean citizens are reserved to do this job, whereas other similar lowly jobs are left for foreigners.

There is a very good reason for it. I forget what it is, but at least in LTA's collective wisdom, that what they feel.
