Also how to get the kids into the International Schools if they let all and sundry into the local Schools!!

I am sure the Govts friends who are in the education game have nothing to do with the policy of rejecting foreign kids for local school.

Help! I am having the same problem. My son tried for the AEIS examination which costs 675 SGD, in the end the result is unsuccessful. No explanation given. Exams results cannot be shared. How can we focus on where to review if this is the case. Not sure if he failed the exam or there is no slot available for local schools. It is really difficult and depressing .

I'm so sorry. This has become a major issue for expats with no schooling allowance.

It's the new Singapore right enough.

Foreigners can not assume available places at local schools. Everybody MUST plan before coming to assume International Schooling. If, later, a place can be found at a local school then take it as a bonus or saving but calculate first based on the full cost of an international placement. If, after calculating on that basis it will be too tight, forget it.

Expect the worst and hope for the best but then either be satisfied or happily surprised.

My child did not secure a slot in the local school as well.. hence we were considering other options for her. Sending back to our hometown would be devastating.. while working here.

However, recently I was introduced by a friend (my child's classmate in PCF) who faced the same problem, I found a school but its in the midst of setting up..it would be a good opportunity for those in the same situation as my kid.. they provides MOE syllabus and preparation of AEIS.. and it operates like a school. (5hrs a day/ bus services/ affordable ..etc.. cant remember the rest of the information )as compared to International School. The location is near Kembangan and I went to view the place.. its nice for kids.. and the ambience is there, as compared to if my child studies at home with a tutor.

It would be great for my kid to finally have a school environment where she can learnt, although tuition or enrichment class are available but they are definitely different from schools.. at least she learn how to socialise. Although its stretching my budget more.. but i guess sacrifices have to be made 1 way or another..i would rather have her with me..

My child is in the same situation. Rejected from P1 Jan 2016 from phase 3. What is the contact details of this school being set up in Kembangan? Please post details.

The bigger question is what are the odds of acceptance via AEIS for entrace to P2 Jan 2017. I am sensing from my research that very few students are accepted. If true, I would need to think hard about directly enrolling my child in an International School or just leaving Singapore entirely.

Leave. Vote with your feet. Singapore needs to adjust it's policies on this and pressure needs to come from companies who lose people over this decision.

My daughter will be going to P1 in 2018. I didn't think I will last in SG for this long, but still I am in SG. Even now 2018 feels like very far away and I take things month by month, that is how short term I think. But then you never know I might still be in SG in 2018 with 8.5 yrs completed and no PR and worried about whether my daughter will get into a local school.
