Hi ,

I am about to send my Son to a Primary School in Singapore.
I want to know how is the possibility of getting a government School for him.
I am on Epass and waiting for the PR application result.

1.What are the best primary schools for Foreign kids ?
2.Is it possible to get government schools for us as foreigners ?
3.How would be the cost for schooling in here ?
4.Any other tips/information will be greatly appreciated .

1. Some people prefer local schools and some prefer International Schools for their kids. I can not really say which is the "best".
2. It is possible but the chances to get in are very low so it is best to be prepared for an alternative.
3. About 350-500SGD/month for local school (primary) and 1000SGD to 4000SGD per month for International Schools. There may be additional fees such as school bus fees, registration, etc.
4. If you are on facebook, I recommend that you join the closed group "Singapore Expats in Local Schools" to get more info and tips.

Thanks a lot .Really useful information. 1000SGD to 4000SGD is really expensive as this would come top of the House Rent. :(

I think almost all local schools take in foreign kids, and they mix in well with them. Be prepared for a crazy academic life though.
2.Is it possible to get government schools for us as foreigners ?
If your child is going to P1, if you apply for a place in late July, at Phase 3 (when foreigners are eligible) you can get a place, but the school may not be one of your choice. If your child are older, you need to do the AEIS, and you need lots of luck here, cause the quota is capped at 15% of each cohort, if I am not wrong.

I believe a previous poster has given you information here.

@OP, in one thread you have said that you are planning to apply for PR this year and in this thread you have said waiting for PR application result.

FYI, based on what you have said, if you are in SG for 2.5 years, there is almost close to no chance that you will get your PR. Too early to apply.

Hello,

I hear Singapore local schools are hard to get in for children who are not Singaporeans or even PR. Could you share your experience applying for local schools?

Thank you.

Y

I am a local, albeit one who has lived away from Singapore for 12 years. I have posted on what you need to do to get to a local school. It's like jumping over fiery hoops and dancing with tigers.
