Dear All,
Would love to get inputs & advice on my citizenship chances and if I can do anything to expedite the same:
1. Self Indian, Male 50, Been PR Since 2002, Engineer + MBA
2. Wife : Indian, Female 47 Been PR since 2002, Engineer + MBA
3. Son: Born in Singapore on S Pass. 16 year old. Studying in
International School.
4. Occupation : Self & wife both sr executives in consumer goods. Family income SGD 800K++
5. Applied together as a family incl son. Have been in Singapore since 2001 with 4 years gap as lived overseas. Have attached reference letters and volunteering certificates
6. Applied June 2020 and still waiting.

Help me out here. If you and your wife have been PRs since 2002, that is 19 year as a PR correct? Your son is 16 and you are claiming born in Singapore (no issue) on S Pass? Who was on an S pass? He couldn't be on an S pass (if you are implying a Student Visa it is not an S pass) and he could not have been on a Student Visa until he was around 3 or 4 years old. Therefore he was probably on an LTVP and you did not apply for his PR deliberately even though both parents are PRs.
That notwithstanding, if he IS on a Student Visa, that is why you are being rejected and will continue to be rejected as you are doing a fiddle to keep you son from having to do NS. You will eventually get burned and quite possibly be refused a REP in time to come. You have more or less sealed your doom for SGC.

I don’t think he mentioned he has been rejected for SC before. That being said, the son being on student visa did stand out to me too. In any case, he did include his son in the application and if the application is approved, the son will indeed be liable for NS so I don’t see that as an issue in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for your prompt response. I understand that having waited so long and having my son on a student pass might reduce my chances. Here is my answer to your questions.
1. Yes my son has been on student pass.
2. I did apply once before 3 years back but it got rejected. When my application came up for review I and my family were living and working overseas. ICA did ask me where I was working via email before I got the rejection letter.
3. Regarding not applying for PR for my son earlier- It was a mistake. Even though we desired to, I did not think we will be able to stay in Singapore for this long as we have to be mobile in my industry.

Sorry, I overlooked your inclusion of your son on the family application. But that notwithstanding, I also think your age, his age, and the fact that you apparently are still in the same industry may make you a flight risk even now. I will retract the 'no way in hell' to a 60:40 in your favour. But for clarity's purpose, when did you return to Singapore from working overseas. As you already have PR your incomes should hold you in good stead whereas applying for PR it would be a negative as High Flying Sr Exec making in excess of 350~400K/pa are considered a parachute flight risk to other countries by the employers. As you have already passed that hurdle long ago when income wasn't anywhere close, I would thing is a benefit rather than an negative today. I just hope you didn't trip yourself up with your son.

How long in the last 5 years were you living/working overseas? Also were you sent overseas by a SG company and was your CPF being paid?

In the last 5 years I was out for 2.5 years. Back since mid 2019. In my wives case her CPF was being paid by company in Singapore In My case I was on a local plus contract hence was personally paying both my and company's contribution while away.

Hi all,
Need some advice im married to a sgporean husband for 6 years now, im a malaysian holding on LTVP+ blessed with 2 years old son SC currently 26months pregnant, i was born in malaysian but was brought up in sgpore nursery kindergarten primary secondary all my schools and work are in singapore, my dad is on spr my mum is still on ltvp ever since marriage, all my siblings are on SC after getting married except for me
ive applied pr but was rejected 2 times that was when i just got married and only on ltvp, but now after 5 years we decided to try it again now its been pending for almost 15mths ... im not sure if its because of the covid situation or soo.. was just hoping to get a PR asap to contribute CPF on my own acct and help my husband with more benefits thats all.

Since you didn't mention your ethnicity and highest education level, profession... hard to understand what is going on.

If this is your first application after your son is born and if your husband has sponsored your PR, you must be really OK as long as he clears the financial stability part with respect to salary.

A good news from my side. We received my Citizenship approval letter last week after 20+ months. Thanks to all the moderators for the advice.

PJCKHC, Congratulations. I'm glad it's all come together albeit slow coming. But as I like to occasionally say, "see, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus!" Welcome to our new citizens. Patience is certainly a virtue. Always has been.
