Mandatory starting school age in SG [UK to SG move]

Dear all
We are considering a UK to SG move next year. One of my children will be 4, almost 5 before heading off. They would normally start Reception in the UK and we are keen to not just put him in any school. We won't be able to visit SG before the move.

What is the mandatory school age to start in SG? Can we keep him at home ? In the UK he would start Reception the September before he turns 5.

He is a sensitive child so we were thinking of viewing the schools in person, possibly joining a play/preschool part time to settle him in SG. There is also the cost benefit of not sending him for a term of International School.

Our older child will need an international school and the costs that go with it. We will have to organise and pay for it without viewing but they are more resilient.

Has anyone done something like this? What are your thoughts?

Preschool is not compulsory, but most parents I know choose to enroll their children just for proper socialization and skill development. Primary education is compulsory, though, which starts at age 6. The child must turn 7 by the end of the school year.
