r u going to stay here for a long time? if not, try the International Schools. it's easier for them to relocate.

Expat kids can enrol in local schools. contact the Ministry of Education to find out which schools have places available and then you go to the schools.

Although, I recently heard that you can contact the schools directly to apply for a spot. Try that and see what they say...

You can approach schools directly, but bear in mind this would require a lot of homework, you would have to call the schools visit them, even if they don't have vacancy just to put your child on the waiting list. This would also mean trekking around to find the schools. Also, its helpful to know that Foreign students are the last to be selected for any vacancy in a local school. So after they have allocated places for the local student any left-over places would be given to the foreign student. So you can forget about getting your child into any elite school. I have already gone through the process once, but now I got to do the whole tedious process again because we are moving. The lack of help and advice from the schools and MOE is very disheartening for expats. Basically, you are expected to do everything yourself. Good luck!

On the MOE website there is a section where you can search for schools by area and view their website. I now it's not the same as actually visiting the school, but at least you will get an idea of their philosophies etc.

I've been on the MOE website, and theres no search for schools in specific areas. There are searches for individual schools, assuming that you know which schools you are searching for. I do use this for this purpose. Helps to give you an idea of what the schools are like. But they are not informative enough. For example. It would say that the school is Single or double session. But doesn't say if its an afternoon session or morning session. School hours are not given on some sites. Just knowing these small details would help to speed up your choice in selecting a school. But at the end of the day, you really don't have a choice, you would be lucky to be offered a place.

I'm now searching in the East coast area. I'm not having much luck with a Primary school search. I hadn't realise that there aren't that many primary schools in this area. If anyone has any ideas please offer some insight!!!
