Local schools

Hello,
is there anyone here whose children attend local school?
If so please could you share experience with us all.
We are moving in singapore in september and we don't know what is best option (for our son aged 4.5) as International Schools are expensive.
Also, is there a well-known local school where a lot expat children go to?
