Singapore Expats

Hi. I am hoping to move to Singapore early next year. My wife is just finalising her NQT status as a primary school teacher in the UK. Ideally she would love to get a role teaching, preferably in a school that uses the English curriculum. Is this possible and how would she go about gaining the necessary approvals? Thanks!

You're in luck, Singapore has recently announced a drive to start hiring lots of native English speakers to teach English in public schools. Still remains to the seen how this will pan out in practice though...

At any rate, first step for your wife will be to obtain a Dependant's Pass, which will allow her to work legally.

Try ISS,OFS,Tanglin and Dover Court

Best bet to get her foot in the door is to get on the list of supply teachers at the International Schools as most have just recruited for the new school year. Will give her a chance to see how the schools operate and get to know the staff before applying for a full-time position. English national curriculum - Tanglin Trust. UK type curriculum - Dover Court, Chatsworth, Eton House. Also try IB schools - UWC, ISS, OFS.
