Singapore Expats

Hello. I will be relocating with my company very shortly to Singapore.

I am single, mid 30s and am trying to figure out the best places to live in the city...areas and actual condo names.

I am looking for a one bedroom and have a small dog. I would prefer something new(ish) that either has a gym or is close to one.

Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Budget?

Location of work?

Type of housing (High rise, lo rise, etc...)?

Check with your company that they pay for a temporary Serviced Apartment for one month or so, that gives you time to hire an agent (no fees - only if it comes to a deal) and to look around. Just tell your agent your budget and what kind of apartment ....
I pre-checked some by brwosing through the Singapore expat pages ... So you get a feeling and most of them have some pictures. You still need to check them out, but as said it provides you some first impressions.

I have no budget as I am only looking for a one bedroom and from what I have seen price wont be an issue. Even if it is $7k or so.

Work would be in the CBD.

If your workplace is at CBD area, then you can consider renting a studio apt at River Valley area. A studio apt will be renting at about $3.5/mth, and for a 1-bedroom apt, it will be at about $4200/mth.

i tink the condo ICON will suit ur needs just fine

its got great facilities, is brand new, and is within the CBD.

Walking distance to virtually anywhere in the business district and right above an MRT station (red/green line).

Orchard road is just 2 train stations away or a 10-min cab ride away.

What's more, it's got nice restaurants and shops just below the apartments.

Its very easy to get a place in CBD area with that budget. Or if you drive, u can get a little further from CBD

with your budget, you can easily get a unit in the Carribean @ Keppel Bay or as someone mentioned The ICON at Tanjong Pagar (which is IN the CBD)... there's even spare change!

You would definitely be able to rent 1 bedroom for $6-$7K in a brand new development - e.g. ICON - closer to CBD, Residences at Evelyn, the Metz - closer to the Orchard shopping area. I think all brand new developments/newer developments have pool and gym facilities - so worries there. Although with brand new developments, the apts are not as big compared to the ones in NY, so don't bring your furniture.

you might also want to consider a 2 bed apt so you will have extra space for your dog/study/guest area.
