Condo Serviced Apts

A friend who is visiting for a couple of weeks was asking for lodging recommendations. I suggested a condo serviced apt because it offers a more authentic feel of singapore living and is cheaper than the bona fide serviced apt types?

Anyway, does anyone have personal experience with this? What are some points to look out for and which area/development offers the best value?

Would it otherwise be possible to rent a normal furnished condo unit for less than a month? Thanks

* some Serviced Apartments are condo. the landlord would just let a service agent manage the condo as a Serviced Apartment.

* most serviced apartments are located in the city center/CBD.

* normal condo will have a minimum contract period, typically 12 months. most will not rent it out for you less than a month.

i have stayed in one - located all the way out in Simei.

it was ok, cheap compared to getting a hotel room (it was around 70 sgd per night with a *tiny* ensuite + 10sgd for elec and internet so total of about 80 sgd per night.

the only thing very inconvenient was that the condo (melville park) was located some bit of a distance to the mrt station - about 2 or 3 bus stops i think, and there isn't really a lot to do in the simei area so i think i've spent a lot more taking a taxi going to the city.

Hmm would anyone know of service agents that can handle homes for Short Term Stay/rental etc?
