hi

singapore salaries 4000 - 6000 dols

when i deduct 35.5 % CPF remains ... 2580 - 3870 dols

when i deduct 1500 for rent

1080 - 2370 dols remaining after rent

school for 2 children .. 1000 dollars

if i deduct school exp. 80 - 1370 dollars remaining

strange if i get 4000 dols , it is absolutely not manageable

please share any experiences

note that i have not added any other expenses

Why are you deducting CPF. Are you are a citizen or a PR? If not you don't have any cpf deductions. If you are, you only have a maximum of 20% and the employer contributes the other 15.5%.

If you are married, then your wife would need to work. Unfortuantely, you haven't giving us anything to go on, data wise, but if you are not local and your wife is not going to work, then yes, it's going to be rough. However, if you are a citizen, while you have CPF deductions, your school fees would only be a couple of hundred for both. So first of all, you need to clarify what you are.

but i am eligible to get an LPR . so i am analysing which option is finanacially viable i.e. with PR or simply an S-Pass

am married with two children

some other forums suggested that school fees are high like around 500+dollars for a single child ? is that may be for expat schools ?

if both of us work full time i.e. 8 hrs , then taking care of children will be again another issue . wont it ? or is there any way ? can my wife work part-time , do the companies allow such a thing ?

considering whichever is best option , may be working with S-Pass we will have more money in our pockets compared to PR ?

Being eligible to apply for LPR and getting it approved are 2 completely different things. LPR applications are very rarely approved and the whole process will take at least a year.

In reality, your calculation should look like this:

singapore salaries 4000 - 6000 dols

when i deduct 20 % CPF (Note: Fresh PRs pay less than that!) of the max. ceiling of S$5000: remains ... 3000 - 5000 dols

when i deduct 2000 for rent (more realistic than your figure!) and 5% tax (you forgot that!): 950 - 2750 dols remaining

local school for 2 children .. 300 dollars: 650 - 2100 dollars remaining

Obviously it would be tough at the lower end, but manageable (though not luxurious) on the upper end of your scale. Singapore average household income is S$5500/month, so what do you expect if you're below that (and a foreigner ineligible for the subsidized local housing market)?

$500 for International School? lol. It's more like $2000 a month each for International school so that would be $4000 for your two (that's considering kids at any ages really)

the range of salary you discussed will be very difficult for a foreigner to live on. IMO due to school fees and tax and the rental market.

That's so true.. I couldn't imagine how much the budget will be like if they're at their college years.
