Singapore Expats

We are Americans moving from Los Angeles to Singapore this summer. I have three sons ages 9, 7 and 5 and they are in a Mandarin Immersion school here. For a variety of reasons we are keen to enroll them in a local school when we get to Singapore. I have seen dozens of posts about local schools being high quality, etc, but it seems most ex-pats actually end up sending their kids to Int'l schools. Are there parents out there who DO send their kids to local schools and if so would you be willing to share your experience with me? I understand that it can be as difficult to get in to local schools as International Schools, but once you are in, are you happy? Do your kids like it? Is the education they are receiving good? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I found this link and I will be talking to the mom next week. I am in San Francisco and in the same boat. My kids go to Mandarin Immersion schools here and it seems the best bet is to stick with the public schools as the International Schools don't seem to have more than a couple hours a week. But I am a bit intimidated as everything I have read says it's very difficult to get into public schools.

Omg, I don't think you are right in saying to beware of people with less than 5 post.

I have just joined the forum and am offering information that I know. Personally I hope you can be fair in your future comment. Thank you.

A common modus operandi of newbie/wannabe-spammers on this forum is to post 5 inane one liners in 10 minutes, solely to enable their PM function: Then they start PM'ing people spam.

My comment wasn't aimed at anyone in particular (apologies if it seemed that way), more of a general note of caution, as sadly tuition/'enrichment' is a topic that seems to attract them.
