If the job advertisement says average 44 hours per week worked, what would be the "real" number of hours worked?

How many extra hours per day would be expected of employees? Half, one, two?

The source of the stress is not necessarily a demanding boss or tight schedules but the standards of work conduct you are used to. HDB isn't so bad, but you'll definitely want to hold out for more than $600 housing allowance. Otherwise, (unless your wife is earning significantly too), you're going to have a hard time saving anything, unless you live extremely frugally.
