If your son renounces his PR, than for the foreseeable future, it is better that he does not return to Singapore except as a tourist. The Government has been ratcheting up the screws on this since the 2011 General Election results. It's a vote winner here.

Your main residence must be in Singapore and you can only go overseas for short stints for work. This would affect your PR renewal and may also trigger off a cancellation of your current PR status if the government system flags it up. Especially in the present climate regarding expats in Singapore.
