I bought a 2007 Impreza for $35k, shockingly expensive for any other country, but seems cheap compared to the equivalent Toyota / Honda cars in Singapore. I normally only buy European cars, but here they are outrageously expensive. I bought a Porsche 911 in the UK for less than the price of my Impre...

Make sure you avoid buying the OPC (off-peak cars) with red license plates, you cannot drive them during peak business hours. Set a reasonable budget (eg $35k) which should get you a 4-5 years old car like a Subaru Impreza 1.6. This was the sweet spot for me when looking at price/performance. A slig...

I just obtained my Singapore licenseafter 11 months in Singapore. Flashed my Aussie drivers licensed, took the BTT and passed. Recommend you pay the $10 to do the online practice exams though.

Are these publicly / company run car shares? I have a car that I don't use all that much, located in the Keppel Bay area. Wondering about sharing it and if that is allowed here, or what the insurance implications are?

I would suggest you look at prices in Australia before doing this. You'll most likely find that once you have gone through the onerous import requirements of Australia and taken into account the high vehicle purchase cost of Singapore, that you could buy a new motorcycle of the same type for less mo...

Re: Appalling Service - Avoid at all costs

Perhaps if they allow you to drink $500 worth of drinks then leave in Singapore surely can not be too bad a bar. $500 at Insomnia is only 2 drinks each and a bottle of champagne. Not a large volume by any standards. But the manner in which the manager and staff refused to acknowledge that there was...

Appalling Service - Avoid at all costs

Myself and some friends were at Insomnia and ordered cocktails, the round coming to over $100. One of the girls took a sip of her cocktail, then moved the lime slice on the rim of the glass. She noticed that the lime was covering a large broken bit of glass, and that the broken glass bits had fallen...
