My husband and I moved from NY to Shanghai where we lived for 3 years, Hong Kong for 14 months and now Singapore for a year. I say Hong Kong all the way! MUCH better city than SH or SG in our opinion. Shanghai is terribly polluted and crowded and hectic and like zzm9980 mentioned, very hard to navig...

You can get some Amy's Kitchen frozen foods and also Morningstar Farms stuff at many of the Cold Storages and Gourmet Markets. Just be warned that it will cost you about triple what the price is in the US!

PLEASE open up a cupcake shop here, there are no good ones in Singapore. They all seem to use either straight butter or cream cheese as their cupcake frosting and it tastes like shite.

My macbook is 5 years old and i've replaced the hard drive twice so. Probably time to move up to an Air! Is it better to get one back in the US next time I go back, I imagine they're overpriced here!

Mac store or mac repair place?

I've looked all over but there doesn't seem to be an actual Apple store in Singapore, just authorized dealers. Is this true or are my google skills faulty? I really need the genius bar right now! Does anyone know of a good mac repair place that's not overpriced? I got my mac fixed for free while I w...

My husband and I lived in Brisbane for a bit and went to Port Douglas twice and LOVED it. We went once at Christmas (a bit too hot) and once in July when it was beautiful but a bit cool a couple days. I think right now would be a great time to go. There are many boat trips you can take out to the Gr...

Hi Ryan, our shipment is just clearing customs this week and we should have a bunch of moving boxes available after next weekend. We're in the Tanjong Rhu Rd area if you want them. I can't PM here yet cause I'm new but I can let you know when we have them next week on this thread.

Hi I'm 31 from NY also (although I grew up in MA). My husband and I are moving to SG next week and we don't know many people. We've lived in Asia for about 5 years now but Singapore is brand new for us. Let me know if you all plan something, would love to meet some fellow new arrivals!

Whew ok that's a relief. Thanks for the encouraging response GirlNextDoor. We definitely don't need a brand-new 2000 sq ft place, just somewhere clean and not moldy and ~1000 sq ft is plenty for us. One question though, we used to live in HK and the listings that said a certain sq ft were always dec...

Thanks everyone, this is very helpful and gives us a start on where to look. Although it sounds like our budget might be a problem, we definitely don't want a shared apartment :-/

30 yr old couple, no kids - where to live for ~4K a month?

Hi everyone, I have been doing a lot of research and reading all the forums but I thought I'd ask for advice from some veteran expats too. My husband and I will be moving to Singapore next month and he'll be working near the Conrad Centennial in the city. We don't have kids yet so we don't need a bi...
