My understanding is that the new owners intend to be far more responsive. They have already set up an email communication system, hardly radical in any other school but a complete no no at DCPS in the past. Also that there will be investment in catering, computers and a range of other issues. Some o...

Nord Anglia Education buys Dover Court Prep School

Nord Anglia Education has acquired Dover Court Prep in Singapore. Dover Court is a happy little school, but could certainly benefit from a little investment and more modern communications/technology. The teachers have always been enthusiastic and effective, but I think held back by the owners. Does ...

I don't agree with Hcalm5. While the communication is appalling and the Head Teacher is quite eccentric, the school itself is excellent, at least in the junior years. I know teachers in UWC and Tanglin senior school who have said that children who came from Dover had often had a better level of educ...

Hi Leaving London Sorry to miss your post until today. I dropped by the fair at lunch for half an hour. Our neighbour & friend, Tamsin, was also on the face painting stall...hot work I imagine. My wife, Susanne was on the sandwich stall. Sam is in Year One, Ms Smith's class (Jones & Smith...inspirat...

Try Island View. A number of Dover school kids take the school bus (a 10 minute journey) and the condos have some character and are huge (3500 sq feet)...well I like it.

Hi RainydaysandMondays My eldest is in year 5 and tells me that LOADS of kids play football at playtime. They have a hard court football pitch. Sounds promising. You can really relax about Dover Court. It has exceeded all our hopes, so far. All my three kids (new this term) are having a blast and le...

Great news, Leaving London. Delighted it has worked out. I will make sure that Sam looks out for new boy Dylan. It will make him feel important and helpful! Tell Dylan that all my boys were super nervous but had a fantastic first day with brand new best friends, all of whom were excited to meet new ...

We also moved from London (Wandsworth). There are two Year One classes, so every chance they will be in the same class and even if not they all play, eat etc at the same time. Sam has a really lovely Teacher. People are extremely welcoming (Sam had his first playdate after 3 days) and several Mother...

Hi Leaving London I think they would be fine. New people are made a real fuss over. They're given a "Buddy" to look out for them and the children are excited when a new person joins them. yours will be made to feel very special. Bare in mind that this is an expat community and people come and go. It...

Hi Leaving London I don't know why we were allowed to start when we did. It might just be about numbers. We paid our registration over a year ago, but work issues delayed our move until April this year, so our places have been kept. You could always try again. I know that 2 members of my youngest so...

Thanks
The school bus system looks extremely efficient and cheerful. Each one has a woman looking after the kids and they are greater by the headmistress and various teachers.
Two random children came up to welcome my boys and offer help.
They even shared their snacks, because we forgot them...failure

Just to say that my 3 boys (Year 5, Year2 & Year 1) all started at Dover Court today. Very nervous initially but a great success. Extremely warm teachers and friendly, welcoming kids.
We are delighted & the kids can't wait for tomorrow.

Temporary Serviced Apartment

After MONTHS of negotiations with Singapore Regulators & MOMS, I am finally moving with my family to Singapore. I thought it best to spend a month or so in a temporary serviced flat, whilst looking for a house/condo. Does anyone have any positive/negative experience of such places around District 5/...

EP P1 difficult to get, for a start up company?

I have been reading that it is sometimes difficult to get an employment pass, with the Sing Gov trying to encourage the employment of local staff. I am British, working for a successful UK company (for the last 7 years) that has asked me to set up the business in Singapore. I have a BA Hons degree f...
