Singapore location advice

Ok.. so I'm now in Singapore and doing some house hunting... the problem is, I have NO IDEA which areas to look in. I've searched the forums and found that the ex-pats tend to live in the east or city areas.. but I need some more advice... To give you an idea, I'm looking for Singapore's version of ...

Thai Delivery

Can anyone tell me if there is a place that delivers good Thai food in the Orchard Road area (orchard towers end)?

Also, someone mentioned to me a little while ago that there is a place in Singapore where all the Thai's tend to live/hang out. Where is this?

Thanks

A couple of questions: * Is your monitor CRT or LCD? * How old is your monitor? If it's a CRT monitor that's reasonably old (>5 years), and it's only just suddenly and randomly started flickering (and the suggestions from Genesis don't work), it could be that the tube (or the guns) is about to fail....

Try to negotiate above the 40,000pounds barrier. You'll be fine on that salary... if you don't party too much, you should still have some money left over for a few RyanAir trips across Europe on weekends. As for rent... it really really depends on how big/nice you want your apartment to be. There ar...

Go to an office supply shop. 3M (and a bunch of other companies) make pack of alcohol based screen wipes (especially for LCD screens). They're very good at getting greasy fingerprint marks off! They do tend to dry out after about 6 months though, so don't get the big pack unless you plan on being a ...

I had a 20" Sharp LCD TV in my bedroom in Japan, and I was extremely happy with it. I can't quite remember the model number (something like LC20K2), but it had RGB inputs for a PC too, but the resolution was quite low. I would actually recommend a 22" widescreen to you, as these are pretty much the ...

Good luck finding a camera.. I definitely think it's best that you take the artwork to the shop and do some tests. You should also see if they can display the results on a computer monitor (CRT), as the LCD on the camera will often display the colours slightly incorrectly. For my 10 cents worth, I r...

Thanks!

Thanks for your helpful replies guys... I've decided to leave my bike in Singapore with some friends for now, then I'll decide whether I want it after a month or so of public transport. I've only been riding a motorbike for a few months, so I've become attached to this little thing (despite its gutl...

truce?

Thanks for your response. Sorry for defending myself against childish comments to a simple question... next time I'll just let myself be a punching bag. I know you're just having fun, but I'm quite stressed about this sudden move (start date - 23 Jan), so I'm taking everything personally. With regar...

c'mon kids... I asked a simple question, you don't have to come back and criticise me for it. I thought this was a helpful forum, full of mature people... maybe I was wrong? It's simple... I don't want to waste money on buying a new bike when I already OWN one that's on the same continent. And yes, ...

Hi all... Ok, so I'm arriving in Singapore around the 25th of Jan.. now I need to figure out what to bring! I'll buy/rent my furniture in Singapore, so that's not going to be a problem... but I need transport! I currently own a new scooter in Thailand (125cc Yamaha Mio - 2005), so ideally, I'd like ...

Thanks for all your responses... I'll definitely put in for the sunscreen allowance. Not sure about the 3 maids though.. depends what they can do for me! I'm glad my $$ will go further in Singapore! You've convinced me to take the job. Sounds like I'm going to enjoy living there. Incidentally, I jus...

Thanks

Thanks for that... I'm still investigating the costs of living, etc. in Singapore... so I wasn't 100% sure on whether it was an exceptional, or just good salary. My previous job was in Japan, where I earnt around the same amount (after conversion), but to be honest, it wasn't a huge amount there (es...
