I'm kind of in the same boat as the OP, but I'd be the boyfriend with the job. My girl and I can likely establish common-law marriage without too much of a fight (been living together for years, sharing bills, etc.), but (if the job comes through) there is a ring in her future anyway. Between an en...

At this point I've become comfortable with the fact that I'll likely end up paying around $2,500 a month for a decent condo with some amenities.

It's just a bit of a shock when you move from a fairly low-cost area in the US.

Such is the way of Singapore, it seems.

I was actually wondering the same thing. I'm getting closer and closer to closing a deal to take a job over there and began thinking about all the medical stuff that I'd have to get sorted. It dawned on me that I haven't had my eyes check or gotten new glasses in something like 10 years. So far past...

It is a bit unfortunate that irresponsible pet owners ruin it for the rest of us, but that happens everywhere... c'est la vie. I take comfort in the fact that I don't have to leave my guys behind. They'll hate me after a 25 hour flight and 10 days in lockdown, but they'll get over it...maybe. The se...

Right on. Much appreciated. We'll see if I have that kind of time. I'd love to take a few weeks to get my feet under me and scope out where I want to call home. Right now, they're talking about possibly starting within 2-3 weeks...which isn't a whole lot of time to get myself sorted here in the stat...

Hey, thanks for the response. Yea, I know that HDB's are out of the question. Of course, I think that allowing dogs, but not housebroken indoor only cats is a bit weird, but hey...their country, their rules. No problem. I keep doing what I can to find condos in the budget that I'm looking at, but al...

Couple of renting questions and concerns

Well, it'll likely end up being more than a couple, but why not start small? Turns out I may be offered a job in Singapore over the next few weeks. It's a full-time gig so I'd be picking up the stakes and hauling myself out there. Once I realized that this was a possibility, it was time to do some r...
