Seem to be back on an even keel. She now has a curfew, which wasn't in place before... my mistake. I was treating her as an adult, as she's 36 with 3 kids. Also found out that although she's 'married' she's kind of 'separated'.

Moderator or troll?

Settling into the local culture nicely, I see....... Kind of, I guess. I'm trying. Unfortunately all of the Kumon and teach your munchkins mandarin in the am and japanese in the pm were fully booked. You're right though I should stick with the ex pat culture, where I take up macrame, gardening, tri...

Any October classes or camps?

Hi, does anyone know of any classes or camps for the October break, from the 10th? My kids are aged 5 - 9, 2 boys and 1 girl. I'm returning to work, and don't want to leave them with the maid all day.

Thanks in advance!

Beaten Up?

The maid came home from her day off, saying that she'd tripped on stairs... Usually, she leaves early in the am, comes home 9 to 10-ish pm. Her face is badly bruised (around the chin), arm scraped, she said her shoulder was sore too. She said that she'd fallen less than 10 minutes walk from our hous...

I know

a few families who started there, and switched out. The people we rented our house from were Aussies who just moved back to Sydney, their kids went to the American school. There are so many good schools here, I wouldn't pick on the sole basis of nationality, particularly if your kids are younger. Fo...

Thanks! Even though this is a year old.

Just called that #, they are taking away my natural gas grill and will convert to LPG in 1 to 2 days for a couple of hundred bucks. Bargain, and great service.

Great advice. Thanks! We have had live-in help before (au pairs), so that is why I'm so sensitive to getting off on the right foot. Will have a sit down with her, and write up some basic do's and don'ts. More like house rules, I suppose given that I'm not about to tell her that I want the floor swep...

new maid - teething issues

Hi, I just have a few comments from our first week with a (transfer) Filipino maid, would welcome comments/opinions from those with more experience than myself: She keeps wearing my shoes... only flip-flops, but all the same. Isn't that a bit weird? I keep them by the back door, and if she goes out ...
