Thanks @YankstuckinSuisse for your update. I'm thinking about a similar approach to visit Singapore soon, so I'm curious about your experiences. Good luck!

Hi Olivia, I'm not sure how you do your applications, but when I write one, it takes me at least two hours to adjust the CV according to the jobs needs and the cover letter, perhaps also change the attachments. To write 160 is kind of a lot, do you always use the same? I wouldn't consider it if it s...

I know Asia pretty well, but it is not like there are many black faces in Switzerland, lets be honest. I might see a black guy once a day if that, outside Zurich or Geneve and people do stare, because it is uncommon...then again people stare anyway for various reasons. Most of the blacks in Switzer...

@YankStuckinSuisse: I'm confused, are you in Taiwan now as your location says or in Switzerland? If you're in Taiwan, it should be pretty similar. Yes, there can be racial prejudices. I haven't lived and worked in Singapore yet, but I think in terms of the salary, it would be better if you work for ...

Sorry, mixed up your one year in Thailand with one year in China. Anyhow, i think distance study or part-time evening study doesn't make a difference, after all you have to do it besides your job. I'm doing a distance-study program at the University of Hagen in Germany (you might be familiar with it...

Personally, I don't think you've met a real Chinese manager yet. And for a whole year in China, you show some lack of understanding. At least in your last post. Do you speak Chinese? Should be a given after a year. Second, I think the salary's fine. Don't think the distance study is easy, I've been ...

The MOM said the following in a press release Q1 Pass: We will tighten the educational qualifications requirements so that only those from good quality institutions will be eligible. We will also move away from the single qualifying salary of $2,800 today. Instead, the applicant will have to earn a ...

What are her qualifications then? I think there should be some companies doing business with Chinese customers, and I have seen lots of job ads where they focus on Mandarin, and count English only as a plus. Also, English is learnable, right? It might be easier if you went to Taiwan instead, though....

Wow, I like these: Volkswagen Golf 1.4 90 KW Trendline (Or Equivalent New Car) 25,425.50 € 66,585.88 € +161.89 % Apartment (1 bedroom) in City Centre 500.84 € 1,639.60 € +227.37 % The right one is Singapore. I guess the first estimate is not bad. It freaks me out, though. Good to know that I...

I wonder what would happen if there was reunification in any way. The differences are that huge. Would the north koreans accept a completely different world that they have always been taught? And the costs... relatively much larger than Germany's reunification, and that was almost too much for the f...

How does Christmas in Singapore feel like, at 35° and without the sight of snow? I wonder how the heavy food is taken by the body ;-). Here, it just started snowing today, but apparently no white christmas this year predicted. Is it typical to go out for christmas for the foreign population, since s...

A PMP needs 2.5 years of relevant project management experience. Are you sure they can only make that little? That's a ridiculous salary for a PMP in my view. If you think that is low then do not take the job. Which is better having a ridiculous low paying job and food on the table compare to no jo...

Wow, I must have followed this conversation for half an hour now when I should be getting some sleep instead. I haven't had such a bad experience in Singapore, but then I was there only for a short time and my Chinese is probably not fluent enough on really bad language, so I miss out something. Not...
