Singapore expat clubs are generally expensive and don't have facilities that you won't find elsewhere (with a few exceptions, like the Swiss Club: huge green space and a little castle). So you basically pay for the possibility to be surrounded by your countrymen (and -women). If this is what you wa...

Indeed. It's a totally inept attempt to address a real issue, and would do nothing to solve the root cause of the problem. The big media players are trying to preserve their cozy, outdated 20th century model and don't care about the huge collateral damage that would result from this ludicrous legis...

..and colour me similarly interested - a pub somewhere, some beer, a bit of (probably vile) pub food, having a chat about They Don't Make Them Like Gough/Dennis/Bob Any More, some sniggering about the Indian test team, reminiscing about friends past, a giggle about the success of vegemite, I'm there...

Hi, Did anyone manage to organise another event or a get together for us 40 plus year olds as yet? I don't know whether many will be out of town for the CNY. Would love to hear from anyone who wants to catch up over the weekend. Would Chinatown be worth going to on Sunday evening? Whatever's happen...

The best ones I've found are the Broad Oak ones that they ship over from the UK and usually have in the freezer dept at Cold Storage (never seen them at the other supermarkets, only ever at CS). They come and go though - they're out of stock at the moment in my local CS's and have been since Christ...

Re: Sausages

I'm sure anyone posting here from the UK is utterly horrified by the sausage options available here in Singapore. Every single one I have purchased from the supermarkets (Fairprice, Cold Storage, Gourmet Market) has been so bad that it's virtually inedible. The only source of reasonable sausages I ...

A timely thread :)

I have a CK wallet (best I've owned, despite the designer label) that is now falling to bits and really needs replacing. This thread reminds me that I can make an adventure of this, an excuse to explore parts of the island that I rarely visit.

Best regards, Andrew

I haven't spend much time at all on the West Coast. Is it cleaner/quieter/freer of cargo ships than the East Coast? Cheers, Andrew Might be quieter because of no ECP, but definitely no less ships. (You can see them all even on Google Maps) Plus you have all the industrial stuff over there. Ahh, OK,...
