car repair/painting shop

I scratched up the side of my car in a narrow car ramp and am now looking for an auto body shop to repair and re-paint the scratches. As there's no visible dent, how much should I expect to pay for this type of work? Could someone please recommend a reputable auto shop that won't cost too much? Anyw...

Mosquito Coil Pots

Where can I find mosquito coil holders or containers here? These are typically decorative and often cute ceramic (or stone) pots or figurines in which you can place a mozzie coil, and where holes are carved either on a lid or on the container itself to vent out the smoke. They are quite useful as th...

Dentist for Sensitive Teeth

I have extremely sensitive teeth and would like to find a gentle and sympathetic dentist who can clean my teeth without using a machine scaler. I think the term for the technique used by my previous dentist in the US is "hand scaling". Can someone recommend a dentist (preferably in the Orchard or Ho...

COOL Escapes...

Can anyone recommend a 3-5 day holiday to escape the heat during the 1st week of April? We were considering Chiang Mai but then discovered April is their warmest month! Any other suggestions? Preferably somewhere so we can hike or bike without breaking out in a sweat?
Thanks.

RE: Brass Table Fans

I've seen them in KL -- in a few Chinese/ Indonesian/ antique furniture stores. I think they are made in Thailand. I also know an expat lady in KL who imports them from Thailand and sells them to expats in KL. If you're interested, I can try and get her contact number.

Looking for Bagelsl!!

Anyone know where we can find bagels around here? and I'm not talking about the frozen Lender pretend-bagels one finds in Cold Storage. Any ex-New Yorkers out there suffering from bagel withdrawl symptoms? Thanks!

How safe is Mosquito Fogging?

It seems in every other neighborhood I go these days, I hear/see the loud noise and white billowing smoke that accompanies the mosquitoe fogging truck. Does anyone know safe this stuff is when inhaled by the casual passerby? What about being at home when your entire garden is engulfed in the thick c...

Need Recommendation for Carpet Cleaning Company

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good carpet cleaning company? I need to have 2 Chinese wool carpets cleaned and deodorized. Have received several quotes from companies but can't decide which one to use. Would like to hear other people's experiences with carpet cleaning firms here. Thanks!

Need Travel Agency and/or website recommendation in Singapor

Can anyone recommend a travel agency and/or website based in Singapore that offers low fares and decent service? Have found references to Misa Travel, Zuji, and Ntogo.com -- has anyone used these? Would like to hear your experiences with their services. Any other recommendations? Thanks.

Swim Team/Training for Older Kids

My kids are relatively good swimmers and have trained regularly for competitive swim teams. As we are preparing to move to Singapore, we are wondering whether anyone has info on swim clubs and/or training programs in Singapore for older kids (+12)? What are the swim teams at UWC or Tanglin like? Our...
