Back in my days "senior" auditor meant someone with 3 to 5 yr experience. If a person has close to 10 yr experience, that person should be close to senior manager/managing director level ... That is correct, and things are no different today than they were in your days. I had a few career set backs...

I was going to post this on one of the other forums, but since we seem to be on the topic, I'm actually looking to get as cheap accommodations as possible. I'm not looking for anything fancy or that includes facilities, etc. The most important factors for me are close to work (in commute time, so cl...

Dear caliexpat, As a senior role in assurance in a Big 4, S$6K to seriously being uderpaid, you should at least ask for twice that amount, without CPF, if you really want to move to Singapore. I'm going to have to call you out on that one and ask you to cite your source for that figure. I'm not sur...

Hidy Ho, Thank you for your post. I know the big four work pretty insane hours, but thankfully, I'm also not part of the core financial audit team. I am pretty used to living on the cheap. I plan to do a shared HDB flat, eat mainly hawker food, and I don't drink or smoke. I plan to have the occasion...

Thanks everyone for your responses. In response to the posts, I'm actually not doing a transfer from within the same firm, nor am I going abroad through one of their expat development programs. I applied for the position locally and received the offer. I realize that Singapore is pretty expensive, a...

Big four accounting firm expat compensation

Hello everyone, I am a US citizen that recently received an offer from one of the big four accounting firms in Singapore for about S$6K (including CPF) as an experienced senior for an assurance role, which I *believe* is a typical salary for a local there in a similar position. My previous role (whi...
