Re: Interesting PR approval (IPA -applied remotely).

Tis happened before with certain westerners who have easily transferrable skills. We had another regular who some of our long-time regulars will remember, 'Saint'. He was also married to a Singaporean Chinese, and were childless. Wife was with him in the UK. Applied and received his PR whilst still...

Married for 5 years, divorced for 4. This equals 9 years. The child is 9. Easy to calculate.

Re: PR application pending since June 2019

It could also be due to the fact that your subsequent application complicated hers. It may have meant that you're both part of a "joint" application, and thus the timer has reset.

Re: PR Approved 2021

Not real sure why anybody would apply for a PEP if on an EP and had already applied for PR. Doesn't make any sense. One reason would be the job - to which the EP is linked - is coming to an end? What is fairly common is EP renewal while applications for PR. Do you think EPs for new roles throw span...

Re: PR Approved 2021

After reading and rereading FelineDuos post, I think what happened was she applied for PR and LTVP around the same time, therefore, as we've always said, never have more than one residency application visas at the same time as it will throw a spanner into the works. (residency visas = LTVP, PR, PEP...

Yeah, it's easy, and steps 1 and 2 shouldn't take longer than a few weeks.

Re: 12 Hours' Free Flow drinks for Singapore New Years Eve Party

Not that I'm here for NYE, but can anyone promise that this won't fall prey to the problem common in free-flow scenarios, namely that it takes 45 minutes to obtain a drink?

Re: Expats not living the typical expat life?

Parents on works permits are not allowed to have dependents here in Singapore, so in that respect, no, the kids are not allowed to attend school here as they are not allowed DPs. In fact spouses are not allowed to accompany WP holders either. However, if the spouse can also gain a work permit then ...

Re: RE: Re: Move Overseas Mortgage to Singapore

No guarantee it won't fall further. There's a serious problem coming with AUD housing mortgages - if housing prices fall off a cliff the bank may insist on revaluing. However I am also in this boat and I bought in when the AUD was SGD1.17.... I guess that worked out well? Or? Sent from my SM-G900F ...

Re: Move Overseas Mortgage to Singapore

Try SMATS (Google it). One thing to note - in order to enjoy the lower interest rates, you'll need to borrow in SGD. The SGD is a relatively volatile currency and swings heavily affect SGD mortgages. Long story short, say you borrow 50% for an Aussie property. The loan is issued in SGD. If the AUD s...
