Holding SGD currency means nothing. You can change it back to something else at any time.

In my case it was new employer, won some awards, extra 4 years of residence under my belt (when I applied only had one year) and roughly a 50% increase in monthly base salary due to job change).....

There is no such thing as the PR kiss of death. I initially got rejected with the same letter.....until three years later upon me was bestowed thy PR.

PR is a stepping stone to citizenship. Accordingly the govt wants a cross section of people : nurses, waiters, teachers, IT etc etc. They can't all be high earning bankers. Chinese, Indians, Malaysians etc all likely to take up citizenship than those who just want to be here as glorified "expats". ...
