Re: So, I moved here just a little over a month ago...

MeetUps aren't that bad. I've been to one where the focus was on Cultural Exchange. The organizer made it clear that it wasn't a dating event. I've met great people from different countries and had engaging conversations from the members. I attended another one where the activity was a cooking class...

Re: Virtual Office in Singapore - Any Recommendation?

There are a few companies that provide the service (i.e. provide a physical business address, collect mail, etc.) you mentioned. Answering calls would usually be an add-on service. You may want to look at shared workspaces. There's WorkCentral (I don't work for them) and they offer a virtual office ...

Re: What's the biggest social.......?

Hi, Meetup.com has a lot of meet ups. Seems like a new group sprouts every time. You do get the diversity of meeting both local and expats. There's also Internations.org. Have joined that but haven't attended any of the social events. Some people congregate around their home country groups, for exam...

Re: Fashion Jobs

Hi Laura, Welcome to Singapore! I'm in the same boat as you. I've been here since September. I have a background in Merchandising (Planning Side) and have been sending out my revamped CV since two weeks ago. I would advise you to join LinkedIn. There are fashion retail jobs posted there. Currently, ...

Re: Recent Arrival Saying Hi!
I guess there are many people who think it's worth the money or this amount is negligible to their budget but sure and definitely I am not one of them. Besides, somehow I have this feeling (just a feeling, not really justified) this kind of places with such high entrance fees must be very a...

Re: Recent Arrival Saying Hi!

I was thinking of Jaycees or Rotary/Rotaract and TM as well. If you need a referral to a TM club here, let me know. I have two of my ex-JCI members in TM, different TMs. You can always visit as a guest I believe. Will do. Kinda busy looking for apartments right now. As soon as we get settled, I'll ...

Re: Recent Arrival Saying Hi!

Don't get me wrong. I suggested the American club as your first stop as it will be easiest of the lot to feel home. And unlike some groups where newer members join with some agenda, nobody's gonna question your intentions to join. Moving ahead of course, time permitting, if you volunteer here and t...

Well...I have read a few locals express their irritation at expats so I guess the word is not far off. :D

Thanks, PNGMK! That's a good way of looking at it considering everyone will eventually leave.
Fastest way

Join American Club, and their sister groups (AWWA ?)
Is that the biggest group? We're not Americans so I'm not limiting myself to one race. I've submitted application to the Singapore Expat Wives group on Facebook then I'll check out the other groups.

Recent Arrival Saying Hi!

Hullo All, My husband and I arrived in Singapore two days ago from the US, where we lived for close to 2 years. Before that we've lived in the wonderful city of Melbourne, Australia for about a decade. Between us, we've lived in 7 countries. We're both avid travelers. I'm still trying to find my foo...
