For SC applications, as of 2020, an email notification is received saying there has been an update in your application, and asks to log in to MyICA to check. I'd like to clarify that for Singapore citizenship status, the status on MyICA does change to approved even before AIP letter was received. I used Firefox in my case and after allowing Flash to run via Firefox permissions, I'm good to go. You could try that as well.

I believe such requests are sent through email. Almost a year after I submitted my documents at ICA (mid 2018 IIRC), ICA did email me to tell me to finalise my tuition grant bond for my university studies with MOE before they continue processing my application.
