Yes it has been a year. I did not receive any letter informing me of a delay in processing but ICA did contact me in June 2020 to request for CV of family, which I provided. Since then, haven't heard any update.

I applied in October 2019 and also pending.

Given the stated processing time is 4-6 months, has anyone tried writing to ICA before to request for an update?

It’s a requirement to submit a declaration granting ICA the right to check your IRAS statements... doesn’t this mean they can check the amount of tax you are paying and can see if you’ve had a salary increment?
