You don't need an LTVP in order to get a PR. You can apply for a PR straight away and check an option saying that you want to be considered for LTVP if your PR is rejected. You should also consider whether getting a PR would really make buying an HDB easier lol. It all depends on your financial situ...

@Outofbounce, does it mean that you applied for PR 7 months ago, 3 months later you applied for LTVP, and already got IPA LTVP?

You can forget about renting an HDB, only a small percentage of HDB units can be rented out to foreigners (there is a limit set on that).

I agree that this budget is rather tight for a family of 5.

You might also need a maid, which is 1k+ per month, and means that you need an even larger unit.

Your chances are literally non-existing, due to your:
- race
- not having spouse
- not having kids
- work in an industry that gives you great mobility options across the world (=high flight risk)

Have you tried Citi, Amex, CIMB?... I have a feeling that foreign banks are more open to dealing with foreigners...
