There's another club, Water Venture just further down the road from Mana Mana. It's mainly a windsurf club but many kiters there as well. They go over to Bintan pretty often to kite or sometimes drive up to Malaysia over the weekends during the monsoon season. Couple of people SUP there too when the...

You might have better luck through a travel forum like couchsurfing.org. There are tons of people there looking for backpacking buddies all the time, just navigate around the different groups.

You have to go on the Flow Rider before you can try the Flow Barrel. If you wake board, skate board or skim board, you'll do fine...but it's quite different from surfing. There are instructors who will provide guidance and there's a rope you can hold on to. Best time is probably on the weekdays, che...

Yea you can kitesurf in Singapore. The kiters usually hang out at either Water Venture East Coast, Mana Mana Beach Club, or Changi during the weekends. The first 2 places have pro shops that sell the equipment too. Not much wind during the weekends (it's been windy during the weekdays mostly) at the...

Unfortunately you can't learn surfing in Singapore as we do not have waves here....nearest is in Malaysia/Indonesia. Only windsurfing & kitesurfing is possible here.

Re: Advice/Experiences?

I am kind of leaning towards the East Coast just because I am trying to get into kiteboarding and it seems to be the best area for it. Hey Brendon, in Singapore it's pretty easy to get around, so you don't really need to stay near East Coast to get into kiteboarding, although it would help to know ...

Mana Mana Beach Club that is just right behind the East Coast Hawker Centre does windsurfing courses too but the prices are higher. Comparatively, Water Venture East Coast has a bigger class size than Mana Mana, but Mana Mana is more personalised I suppose. However they run lessons based on demand (...

The 4 places mentioned actually don't really do windsurfing..not at all in fact if I'm not wrong. There are 2 main windsurfing clubs in singapore - Water Venture East Coast & Mana Mana. Both are located at east coast park and only about 30mins walk from each other. Mana Mana has just started up, hav...

** sammymck: the cinemas are all open. You can just go online to book your tickets...and it's highly advisible that you do so as many people would have the same idea as you. Cinemas are often very crowded during this time. http://www.gv.com.sg/ http://www.cathay.com.sg/cineplexes.html http://www.sha...

You might want to check with the local hospitals. I have 2 huge scars on my abdomen due to appendectomy complication & had injections to reduce to scarring. The injections were administered by my doctor at the outpatient clinic at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. However the reaction of your skin to the inje...

Hi – Do piano teachers teach to Royal School of Music exam standard and are these exams held in Singapore ? You're refering to ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) right? Generally piano teachers and music schools here follow the ABRSM syllabus as it's the most common. Practic...

2die4: You might want to check out this Shopping Spree thing. They have groups of people pooling together to order stuff from various brands that are not available here, in that way the shipping costs are shared. Never tried it before tho, so not too sure how it is. http://community.livejournal.com/...
