Hi guys, i've been here a couple of weeks and looks like am in the same boat. After watching the England Ireland game this weekend not sure i can face being stuffed being stuffed by the french but would be definitely on for meeting up for a beer and cursing poor selection.
i left snow bound london a couple of weeks ago and believe me you'll be fine; loads of expats, really friendly locals, though as you feared humour totally lost on them and sarcasm is just met with a blank face... it's great fun here though
