Re: How easily can husband work in Singapore?

Thank you all for your feedback, and hilarious for the accordion (took me a minute to get it though  ) We are moving forward with my company who is putting together an expat package for me and my family, so we should be fine in the beginning. I understand it will not be easy for my husband to f...

Re: Is this Budget realistic for 2 persons?

Thanks again for your replies! Are you sure you want to use a car? Just using taxis all the time will be much cheaper. 1500 sgd/month for car rental only is on the lower side. It can be closer to 2000. No, I'm not sure. But I read that the dog won't be able to take public transportation, so we must ...

Re: Is this Budget realistic for 2 persons?

Thanks all for your input, I find your overseas holiday estimate unrealistic- a round trip for 2 to France will set you back way more than $450. It is a monthly budget, so it you count $450/month, it ends up at $5400, which will be enough to come back to France, even during during Christmas time! Yo...

Is this Budget realistic for 2 persons?

Hello hello! I'm working on a realistic monthly budget before starting negotiation for our relocation to Singapore. I'm a Sales Manager with +10 experience in specialty chemicals, and I'll be moving with my husband (under DP), our rather large dog and 2 cats. Today we have a comfortable life in Fran...

Re: How easily can husband work in Singapore?

I don't know who is telling you that gaining employment in Singapore is easy or even "not hard" because that's not my experience. Headhunters aren't worth a damn in Singapore (SMS excepted). I've no idea what a lawyer is going to get you. Again, I contacted another forum and posted the same kind of...

Re: How easily can husband work in Singapore?

@Myasis Dragon OK, I don't know what to think anymore as I got completely different feedback regarding the employment of engineers in SG, and the lack of local resources. I guess we'll have to find other ways (lawyer, and headhunter) to find out the truth. Simply try to apply from abroad. This norm...

Lawyers are a waste of time and headhunters will tell you anything to suck you in.

NB: I used to be a headhunter for 10 years here.
lol, ok no headhunter then! Network? As there is a strong French community, it could be a start maybe?

Re: How easily can husband work in Singapore?

Thanks PNGMK, the plan is not really to live appart as it's a family project. Funny proposal, maybe we should get divorced, which would make the process easier?! @Myasis Dragon OK, I don't know what to think anymore as I got completely different feedback regarding the employment of engineers i...

Re: How easily can husband work in Singapore?

Thanks for your swift reply.

Yes, I realize there is a strong French community, which will be a change compared to our previous experiences abroad!
Do companies really go through the hassle to obtain a pass for a foreigner? How difficult is the process for a company?

Some quick background: I'm French and my company is exploring the possibility to ship me to Singapore to start our Asian branch. We are wondering as a family (married couple + 2 cats + 1 dog) i...
