With a budget that low, I recommend you look into the SHIFT program, a housing scheme for foreign workers. We strongly considered it last time we moved to SG but ended up in a condo after all because of a really good deal we got at Springdale, Upper Bukit Timah. http://www.contactsingapore.org.sg/mo...

Anyone have any input about either of these two properties? The location seems ideal for us...can take bus 92 to Science Park where I'll be working and the pix look ok. But does anyone have any firsthand experience there?

Good luck with your search. If I were in your situation I certainly would opt for a condo over a house. The pool, playground, security and convenience of condo living beats a house rental anyday if you have kids, in my opinion. I wouldn't worry about noise too much...your child won't be the only one...
