All around spa-salon, natural products

I'm looking for an all-around spa where I can get facials, massages, as well as manicures and pedicures. Prefer a place that uses natural products and isn't super expensive. Any recommendations? Orchard road area or near downtown MRTs.

nirwana

Thanks for the reply. I've heard some good things about Nirwana. Ever been to Angsana? Can anyone compare which one has the nicest swimming beach?

Unfortunately, the agent called me yesterday evening, long after the bank was closed. And you can only take a certain amount of money out of the ATM. So, I guess I'll bring a couple hundred cash and hope to be able to pay the rest by cheque! Thanks for letting me know this is fairly common practice.

Apartment Deposit -- Cheque or Cash?

I'm looking at an apartment tomorrow that sounds very promising. The agent told me to bring cash for the deposit. That sounds suspicious to me -- I'd much rather write a cheque. Are cash "good faith deposits" standard here?

Quick Beach Trip -- Bintan or Desaru?

My husband is coming to visit for a week and we wanted to spend 1 or 2 nights at a nice beach resort. Somewhere we don't have to fly to, preferably. Mainly, we just want to relax and swim on a nice beach. We've traveled quite a bit in the region, so don't feel the need to go anywhere very exciting. ...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I decided to buy an unlocked phone here in the U.S., even though it's kind of expensive. I'll be traveling back and forth over the year so I wanted to make sure I would have the U.S. warranty, and of course wanted to get a phone that can be used with a US carrier when...

Buy a cell phone in U.S. or Singapore?

I am moving to Singapore in early September (for a year) and am wondering whether it is cheaper to buy an unlocked tri-band GSM cell phone here in the U.S. and bring it with me (and then get a SIM card when I arrive), or whether I should just buy the phone in Singapore. I'm hoping to get a relativel...

Thanks for the advice, and the good suggestion about the NUS sports facilities. I'm pretty sure I'll be allowed to use them. If so, I will also explore the possibility of an HDB flat.

HDB gyms?

Wow -- it is indeed depressing to hear how expensive things are. I don't particularly want to share an apartment unless I can find someone who's gone most of the time.

Do any of the HDB developments have gyms? I don't care if the equipment is old.

Where to live near NUS Bukit Timah? On a budget?

I am considering doing a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at NUS (Bukit Timah campus), starting in September 2007. The salary would be fine if housing weren't so expensive! My rent budget is about SG$1200 a month. Any suggestions about which areas to look for housing? I've been to Singapore once, bu...
