to keep your green card status in the US you will need to return back to the US well within 12 months away...and expect to be 'grilled' when entering the US if you have been away for more than six months

We brought our own queen sets of linens, however, the queen here is much shorter (a couple of inches maybe three), so if you are tall, the only option is to go king size, so we had to buy all new bedding.

Do bring pillows! the prices for down-filled pillows here seems very high.

Mostly deleted by OP, I missed the second page of the thread before posting irrelevant information. It was recommended that we stay in the US and have our students enter their homebase educational system as per usual until spaces open up at SAS. Homeschooling and/or tutoring here in Singapore were n...

one year ago we looked for a place with 3+bedrooms very near Orchard and the price range was $10K-$15K...rental costs may have softened a bit, however, overall an expat lifestyle can be expensive here

you don't say what city you are from, which can change your perception of the costs in Singapore...

I am interested as well...though currently I do not attend classes, nor do I have materials. Can you suggest a book/text that you might use, and where I could see the book (do they have them at Popular?) ? I do have materials from a young student's class, however, am looking for something a bit more...

I too find the prices here very high for pleasure reading, however, the library is a good place to visit... and I joined a group : BookCrossings http://www.bookcrossing.com/home (this is not an advertisement, this is just a link to a non-profit group attempting to do something good and fun in the wo...

I called UWC today and was told all grades are full and that all of them have waiting lists, of varying lengths, so it depends on which grade your students will be entering when in Sg...I was then advised to get our applications in *now* and there *might* be a spot available for *next* school year, ...

:) We will be in Singapore late June/early July for our 'recon' visit...looking for housing, visiting the campuses of the schools we're applying to for our sons (SAS, UWC, OFS...hopefully there will be some staff there during summer holidays) and getting an idea of what the next two years will look ...

We too are moving to Sg mid to late August, maybe even September at this rate, and have a student who will be turning 15 in October (and one who is 9 yrs old)...we are just now sending in the applications for UWC, however, I understand there is a wait list... I am wondering the same as you...what to...

furnished vs unfurnished

We are anticipating a move to Singapore in September with the family...though one of us is commuting there for work right now from the US, and we'll be there in late June to look-see and make some decisions about condo/apt/duplex and schools, etc. last time we moved abroad I discovered that there is...

lacrosse for kids

I have been doing extensive searches on the 'net and have found very little active information about lacrosse in Singapore...though I understand it is a 'developing' sport there. My teen and his younger brother are keen players here, and we're anticipating a move to Singapore in September 2007...it ...
