Hi,

Most of the standard saving account in Singapore has a minimum deposit of $500. If the average daily balance is less than $500, a $2/mth fee will be imposed. Lastly, if the account is to be closed within 6 months, $20 penalty will be imposed.

If your workplace is at CBD area, then you can consider renting a studio apt at River Valley area. A studio apt will be renting at about $3.5/mth, and for a 1-bedroom apt, it will be at about $4200/mth.

the initial deposit is 1% (cash only) of the price of the condo when you decided to get that place. 4% (cash only) in 2 weeks time to excercise your option to purchase. 5%-15% or more (Cash or CPF) in 8 weeks time to complete the sales. The choice of currencies depend on the individual risks and do they need that currencies... No doubt NZD gives a higher interest, but it has a higher volatility too... If the investors is very conservative and do not require the usage of NZD at all, then it will not be wise to invest in NZD.

The cost of fund for Sing dollar is about 2.5% now... Therefore it is impossible for you to find any accounts in Sing dollars that can give you interest the same as Aussie dollar...

Hi, In my opinion, the easiest way should be open an account in Singapore first and then TT the funds in... Pls do not bring traveller's cheque and deposit into your Sg account, cus the cost is the highest and will take abt 4 weeks for the cheque to clear... whereby for TT, the time is abt 3 days on...
