Well in Australia.. we use guys to refer to boys, and gals which refers to girls. =] it's a very common slang in Sydney. =]

I'm an international student that will be studying in Singapore, NTU.
Are you undertaking an exchange scheme?? Because the University, or college you applied to, might have on site acomodation - which are cheaper than renting outside.

There's a bus route that is very frequent from Suntec - the SBS Transit bus 36.
It goes from Orchard to the East coast via Suntec. So maybe the best suggestion will be somewhere in the East Coast? Near Marine Parade - as there is a bus stop there for the 36 bus.
