Thanks! One more question, if you know -- is there a length of new employment required to reset the 6 month clock? The regs say that the PEP will expire after 6 months of continuous unemployment. Would a 2 week stint at a part-time gig reset it, or are there length requirements?

PEP Questions

A few questions regarding my situation. I got a PEP prior to being laid off earlier in the year. I have not gotten a new job, and the PEP is valid for 5 years, but supposedly conditioned on (a) minimum income requirements (like S$60k / year, which I passed) and (b) not being unemployed for more than...

electronics trade-ins?

Does anyone know if there's any stores which take trade-ins for electronics (used computers / ipods / cameras)? Stuff I don't use is amassing, and I'd like to trade them in for other stuff (versus trying to ebay everything individually) if I can. Thanks!

i checked out pat edge. Liked the unit a lot, but the windows were pretty flimsy. also a ton of sound seemed to come in through the bottom of the front door (they were piling next to the building). Like everything, look what you're facing and hope for the best.

What size place are you looking for? Condo or house? (I may be leaving in March, and you could take over my lease of a 2 bedroom in Robertson Quay.)

Help! with bugs in condo

Hi - we just moved into a fairly new condo complex. There are ants in the kitchen. I spray and put in Combat discs, but they don't work (the spray works short term, but feels like it takes a year off my life each time I use it, and the bugs come back within a few days). Any recommendations? Others i...

Request for mobile phone advice

I'm looking in to mobile phone plans, and haven't found any recent discussions here comparing starhub / singtel / others. Can people chime in on pricing / call quality / customer service / etc.?

Thanks!

Request for Review: River Place

Hi,

I'm a recent U.S. transplant, moving here with my wife (no kids). I've seen the River Place condos and like them and the RQ area. I'd really appreciate any feedback members (either residents or not) can give, especially with regard to residents, facilities, ease of buses, etc. Thanks!

does anyone have input into where to go for a US dollar account? It seems with Citibank if I wanted to pull out US cash from my US dollar account (I'm getting paid in USD) I have to pay a 1% withdrawal fee if it's over $1,000. Is this standard? Seems a little extortionary....

Thanks for the quick response. Was there a problem with the air quality (living so close to the ships, etc.)?

Compare: Caribbean at Keppel Bay vs. Citylights

I'm looking for feedback of the above two properties. No kids, moving to Singapore with my wife in the next 2 months or so. Both look pretty decent (location close to MRT, facilities, price at or lower than $5k for a 2 bedroom). Any insight? Thanks!

Which Singapore bank do you use (and why)?

Hi, I'm getting paid here in US Dollars, so have to open up one (or 2) bank accounts. I have Citibank in the US, but there doesn't seem to be a big incentive to use them here, as they are not connected.

Which banks have lower fees / better benefits? Thanks!
