I am speculating but perhaps those jobs are low paying relative to Australia - - there are huge amounts of locals and expats from India and China with such backgrounds willing to work for relatively lower salaries - it MAY be a field where expat salaries are not abundant. ????

It seems like hot industry at the moment here, but you'd be much better off with a degree versus diploma. There are going to be a lot of local diploma holders in that field very soon to compete with.

I agree PH. I think that Favre lost sight of the goal of all this - got overwhelmed and bullied in GB (4 Pack top execs came to his house and beat him down until he said OK to any trade). NYJ were his last (and recently unacceptable) choice and was the Pack's 1st choice - they really did a job on hi...

Terms: The Packers will receive a conditional fourth-round draft pick in the trade, according to the NFL Network. It turns into a third-round pick if he plays in 50 percent of the plays this season, a second-rounder if he plays in 70 percent of the plays and the Jets qualify for the playoffs , and a...

Favre goes to Jets

Favre traded to Jets. Will they win now?

Favre and agent cower away from Pack management and give away chance to go to the SuperBowl (decent chance) with Vikings. :(

It is the old thing - most accounting jobs are done by locals or Asians (like Malaysian Chinese) = lower salaries than in West.

There are tons of this type of work here in Singapore. The salary is not great - especially without a degree - as you would be competing against locals for such positions. It is probably best to look for a job once you are here, as I imagine that no one would even consider you from a distance (e.g.,...

It all depends upon your employer. If you are lucky, you might work a reasonable 8-10 hours a day for 5 days a week - if you are disciplined and have a decent employer. Otherwise, working nights and some weekends may happen - locals often get pressured into such. My line of work, a new employee gets...

Not sure about specific, specialized nursing niches - but in general, there are many Filipinas and China-women who are nurses here - - this must really drive the salaries down. In addition, it is true that nursing is not a respected profession (overseas workers + mainly women) . I can imagine many h...

Good to hear. Do they have veg offerings? Could you tell if there was any lard (like in refried beans)?

I would not trust the company's word in the case of helping your GF coming here - it is likely just words to help convince you to sign the contract. Unless they put it in writing, they will likely do nothing once you have signed. I do think that with your last words - your plan sounds good. Frankly,...

Yeah, if you lived and worked here for 8 months already, you realize what a good deal you are being offered in terms of salary. I dislike such bragging also - you should know where your salary ranks in terms of Singapore - quite crying. Sorry to sound harsh but with 8 months of being here you should...

Sounds weird. I would not trust your company saying they can help bring her over - they can do nothing unless they give her a job. Your relationship has no immigration-standing. Your initial thoughts were right - she needs to gain her own immigration status on her own. My guess is that your gf's lon...

Office of Human Resources. Singa is a place full of acronyms. :) There are ton of locals - including Malaysian Chinese with similar experiences and more working years. Unless she can offer something incredibly special, expect local-rate pay. As stated before, she would need to contact employers dire...
