Looking for an area that is more local, not expat-ville, with the possibility of getting a house (as we have now). I am just trying to get an idea of what the different areas of Singapore are like. Thanks for any comments....

We are planning to move to Singapore from Hong Kong later in the year. At the moment we live on the outlying islands because it is quieter and away from the city. I wonder, what would be the Singapore equivalent? Appreciate any comments/ help.
