I find that different environments, whether online or offline, do tend to bring out different aspects of my character. I guess to some extent I do behave slightly differently, most obviously in the way I communicate (for a start I swear a hell of a lot more offline :P ). It's a funny thing though. I...

In my personal experience I've always found that staff respond best when handled firmly but fairly. Take her to one side for a chat, accentuate the positive aspects of her work and the value she's brought to the team and then explain your concerns to her. She's more likely to open up about her own p...

Good luck, Edwin - let us know how you get on. Cheers Vaucluse. Well, I contacted a couple of agencies recently but was met with the stock response along the lines of 'send us your CV...will let you know if anything turns up...blah blah'. Contact Singapore were more encouraging, but I'm still not c...

Thanks for the replies. I realise I'm taking a risk by coming over first but I figure it might be the best way to find out what jobs are available. To Vaucluse: I have a UK passport so that should give me 30 days to find work, possibly longer if I can get an extension. When I mentioned buying a one-...

Arriving in Singapore first, and then finding a job?

Has anyone here done this before? I mean, fly over to Singapore without having secured a job first. I suppose ideally it would be good to find a job first before buying a one-way ticket, but there must be vacancies in Singapore that only get advertised locally (eg not on the Internet). Plus I'm thin...

Ok, see you there.

Hopefully we can all settle on a place before the end of today (just in case people who aren't working tomorrow don't have internet access at home). So much for that! Ok, I'm going to suggest a place. How about meeting at 8pm in Indochine in Clarke Quay? It's a pretty cool environment with m...

can i join, but where do you people going? Yes, of course you can join! One possible venue that's been mentioned - thanks KT - is a place called The Living Room. It's at the Marriot Hotel which is located at the intersection of Scotts Road and Orchard Road, so it's very central. Check it out: http:...

I didn't think GAP had outlets in Singapore. But if there is one, I'd like to know where it is too.

Hey everyone. Well I met up with Kotoko yesterday evening for drinks and food and I can definitely say that she's great company. She knew that I'm only in Singapore for a few weeks yet she still made the effort to come out and meet me. That says a lot about her. Definitely someone worth being friend...
