Money Transfer

Hello All, I was just wondering if anyone on the site has any experience and / or advice about the best way to repatriate a fairly large amount of money back to the USA? Given the advantageous exchange rate right now, I don't want to wait too much longer. I want to ensure the most competitive rate a...

Re: best guess

I certainly didn't spend my time surfing any of the Asian expat sites (and I'm assuming there are many) back when I lived in the US! Were you even aware that Asian expat sites existed before you left the US? Maneo--Nope, I wasn't. As I said, what Asians (and I don't mean Asian-Americans) living in ...

best guess

Gilly- I have to admit, I often wonder the same thing. I guess it's a voyeuristic thing in a way. With the number of foreigners that inhabit Singapore, I guess it's only natural for the local population to want to understand us better--"what do they really think of Singapore...and (gasp) what do the...

haircut

From one faux hawk wearer to another, unfortunately, my only advice is that "cheap" and "good" don't seem to coexist when it comes to haircuts/salons here. Although admittedly I am very particular about the way my hair is cut. Like many things in Singapore (clothing, housing, furniture, etc.) there ...

Yes, they're called taxidrivers! :) Obviously the author omitted that important qualifier.

yes, of course

Good topic to have as a counterweight. I've just spent a month negotiating the rental of a unit I really wanted, which was quite an ordeal, so I'll use my most recent experience. I have to credit to my "auntie" agent. I am admittedly not the easiest person to negotiate with (I essentially do it for ...

KT, DeadPoet, is who is the de facto organizer of these events, has been traveling a lot for work lately. He will hold these when he's here. I had dinner with him on Saturday, but I'm not sure if he said he will be here this week or not. I'll be in Vietnam on Weds so I'm not much help to you. You mi...

hot, cheap, and cool

I've recently been making it a point to drop by this board to browse and/or post more often after being away from it for quite some time. I must say it never fails to provide cheap entertainment. Anthropologists and sociologists must have a field day in here. Not sure why I ever left. But I digress....

Currant, Thanks for the reply. I was actually going to recommend Brewerkz for the first gathering. I live at Robertson Quay now and will move closer to Clarke Quay shortly, so that's very convenient for me as well. With the next race being in Canada, I would suggest making the first event the French...

One843, Well I haven't heard anything about Canada being dropped--it's quite a well supported event--but yes this incarnation of the US GP is indeed history. I have a feeling it won't be long before they're back in another location though. Could be Laguna Seca, Las Vegas, or even New York City. Good...

It's a pretty diverse group of people of different ages from different spots all over the world. We're always welcoming of newcomers. You can find more about i...

Formula 1 Watching Events/Club

Hello all, I've searched the boards to see if there was an existing group of fellow F1 fanatics like myself meeting up for regular F1 watching events at any of the local restaurants/pubs, but it seems there isn't one. At least not one that I can find. That being the case, I figured I'd put the call...
